Introduction:

Annapurna Circuit Trek a famous and popular scenic walk to high picturesque Manang valley where you will be within high mountains of Northern Annapurna Himalaya with Damodar range of peaks. Annapurna Circuit Trek listed as world top ten adventure destinations by guide books and travel magazines, truly a fascinating destination where you can capture views of Manaslu-Lamjung and Annapurna mountains with Dhaulagiri Himalaya range after climbing up to high Thorang-la pass at 5,416 m and 17,700 ft high with sweeping views of mountains and beautiful landscapes.

Beside mountain views culturally this trek leads you to traditional villages of strong Tibetan origin and custom of Buddhist religion, where you can explore its old monastery of great interest within the backdrop of high Mid West Himalayan Mountains. Starting this fabulous Annapurna Circuit Trek with a long drive from Kathmandu to a hill village at Dharapani where you will in the midst of beautiful alpine woodland of firs-pines and rhododendron trees, as the walk progress soon leaving the green vegetation for arid and barren windswept country at high Manang valley surrounded with white snow capped peaks and in the backdrop of lovely traditional villages with prayer walls and wheels stands on the walking path.

After a fine rest day to explore and acclimatize at nice Manang village then heading higher to cross a high Thorang-la pass to enter at Kaligandaki river valley around Mustang area, as the walk leads through holy temple of Muktinath and at Jomsom and then reaching back into green forested area at Kalopani and Ghasa villages.

From here heading towards the warmer area of Tatopani (hot-spring) and to cooler alpine zone at Ghorepani and with a hike to Poon Hill for stunning sunrise views over a chain of Himalayan peaks, Annapurna Circuit Trek finally completes after a downhill walk and then with a drive to scenic touristic Pokhara.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,315m and transfer o hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Drive to Dharapani 1,860 m – 07 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Chame 2,670 m – 05 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Pisang village 3,200 m – 05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Manang village 3,760 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07:  Rest day in Manang for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 08: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,010 m – 04 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,925 m via Phedi 4,450 m – 04 hrs.
Day 10: Trek and cross Thorang-la 5,416 m and descend to Muktinath 3,760 m – 06 hrs.
Day 11:  Trek to Marpha 2,670 m via Jomsom – 06 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Lete 2,400 m – 06 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Tatopani (hot-spring) 1,190 m – 06 hrs.
Day 14: Trek to Ghorepani 2,860 m – 06 hrs.
Day 15: Hike to Poon Hill and continue trek to Hile, Tikhedhunga 1,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 16: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.
Day 17: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Day 18: International departure homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01:  Reach Kathmandu after your international flight.
On arrival in Kathmandu received by Nepal Holiday Organizer staff and guide for short drive to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city, where you will join with other members of Annapurna Circuit Trekking, where our guide will brief with information regarding trekking - hotels-culture with do’s and don’ts, includes welcome dinner in a nice and typical Nepali restaurant with culture programs.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Morning after breakfast our tour guide will receive you for sightseeing tour around interesting part of Kathmandu, as Kathmandu city a blend of modernization and old lively cultures where you can witness medieval period villages and way of life of the locals as it was for past hundreds of years. Kathmandu valley steeped with ancient history-old traditions full of world heritage sites of Buddhism and Hinduism temples / monasteries. After an interesting tour afternoon free at leisure preparation for Annapurna Circuit Trekking.

Day 03: Drive to Dharapani 1,860 m via Bhesisar - 07hrs.
Annapurna Circuit trekking starting with exciting long overland drive to reach at Bhesisar a big and a headquarter town of Lamjung district. After Bhesisar taking another vehicle for the rough and interesting ride towards mid hills following Marysangdi River past Khudi, Bulbule, Nagdi villages to reach at Syange village.

From here leaving the river behind drive climbs on steep road to reach at Jagat and Chamje village and then on scenic road to Dharapani village for overnight stop where the air is cooler with alpine temperature. This nice village located on the mid way of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu route.

Day 04: Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hours.

Morning walk leads along a winding path through rhododendron and pine forest past Bagachap and Danque village, then a steep climb of few hours to Timang village with super views of Manaslu-Lamjung and Annapurna II. From here onwards into more Buddhist culture country.

From Timang village downhill to Koto and then a short slow uphill to reach at large Chame town for an overnight stop, Chame a major and headquarter town of Manang district.

Day 05: Trek to Pisang 3, 200 m - 05 hrs.

The adventure continues from Chame heading into the cooler zone and closer to the mountainous region, as the morning walk leads into the lovely alpine forest of rhododendron and pine trees, following Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhartang village.

After Bhartang village on crossing a bridge over torrential Marysangdi River heading uphill through alpine woodlands with views of Chulu’s and Pisang peaks, then reach a small settlement around Dukuri Pokhari for a possible lunch stop.

Afternoon walks downhill to lower Pisang village for an overnight stop after passing rows of prayer wheels with closest views of Pisang and Annapurna II peaks.

Day 06: Trek to Manang Village 3,540 m - 05 hrs.

From Pisang village with a nice walk for short while and then a gradual climb into forest of pines and rhododendron to reach a small ridge with amazing views of beautiful Manang valley

and mountains. After enjoying rest with the views walk downhill to Hongde village with a small airstrip , from here on tree lines fades to barren and arid dry terrain.

Trek with super views to Manang, on route visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics and then an hour walk, brings at Manang village for an overnight stop.

Afternoon at leisure for short walk or just relax and enjoy the views of close snowcapped peaks

Around Manang, villages houses are built in traditional Tibetan style and origin as Manang people with strong Tibetan influence including culture-Buddhist religion and way of life.

Day 07:  Rest day at Manang for short excursion and acclimatization.

A perfect and ideal place with right altitude for rest day and acclimatization before heading towards higher elevation at Thorang areas, on this day explore around Manang village and take a hike near towering Annapurna II and Gangapurna Ice Falls and glaciers which form Manang turquoise colored glacial Lake. 

Day 08: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,010 m - 04 hours.

After a pleasant stop at Manang, morning walk leads to Ghunsang village with gradual climb to reach a small settlement at Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude walk with super views of Gangapurna-A II with Chulu peaks, after few hours of scenic morning walk reaching at overnight stop at Yak Kharka. Afternoon enjoy the mountain views at leisure.

Day 09: Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,925 m - 04 hrs.

Morning as the air gets much cooler leading to higher zone on the dry and arid country in between mountains around Yak and Yeti country, where rare Snow Leopard are seldom located in this remote and isolated areas.

Slowly after crossing a small Jurjung Khola (stream) heading towards Thorang Phedi for short stop and to catch the fast breathing on this high altitude walks, after a fine rest and stop climb high above on steep zig-zag path for an hour or more to reach our highest overnight stop of the adventure at Thorang High Camp with 4,925 m high altitude.

Overnight stop at High Camp makes much difference to cross the high Thorang-la next morning saving energy and time.
Day 10: Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,760 m - 07 hrs.

A Big Day! and main highlight of the this overwhelming adventure, after early breakfast walk follows with long slow climb to reach at Thorang-la on the winding path to reaching the top at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft. Thorang-la highest spot of the adventure probably the world highest walking pass with super views of Dhaulagiri-Throang peaks and as far to Chulus and Damodar Himal of Mustang area.

After feeling high in Great Spirit a long descend to another western Phedi with few Tea-Shops and lodges, from here a pleasant walk of an hour reaches at holy Muktinath area for an overnight stop after a tough and hardest day of this adventure.

Muktinath a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’. Visit the temple premises with 108 holy water spouts with grand views of North Face of Dhaulagiri.

Day 11: Trek to Marpha 2, 670 via Jomsom 2, 715 m - 06 hours.

From Muktinath, rest of the walks is easier with big drop of 1,200m as the trail descend to Kaligandaki river valley to reach at Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River, an interesting country walking on Kaligandaki River valley within dry and arid country with incredible views of windblown hills and canyons.

 A pleasant walk of few hours brings you to large town in Jomsom the capital of Thakali people of Tibetan Buddhism sects. From Jomsom few hours walk to Marpha village for an overnight stop, in one of the most charming and a gem of a village with whitewashed houses, paved streets and numerous well kept lodges.

This Kaligandaki area famous for delicious apples and its products, here celebrate with local apple products cider, brandy, and juices. Kaligandaki area is also famously known as Apple Pie Trail.  

Day 12: Trek to Lete 2,400m - 06 hrs.
From Marpha walk is enjoyable following Kaligandaki river downstream, reaching at Tukuche another beautiful village, located beneath Tukuche peak and massive Dhaulagiri Mountain range with Mt. Nilgiris, from here back into tree line of pines, oaks and rhododendron, and then reaching a lovely area in Kalapani village, after a short stop here walk to another nice village to Lete as the walk leads with grand views of Mt. Annapurna I, Nilgiris and Dhaulagiri, a short downhill brings at Lete village for overnight stop.

Day 13: Trek to Tatopani (hot-spring) 1,190 m - 06 hrs.
From Lete onwards leads to a dramatic change in landscapes and temperatures, walking in between two high peaks of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna turning this narrow valley into world deepest gorge of Kaligandaki.

On reaching Ghasa village the end of Mustang district, dominated by Thakali tribe from here few hours of good walk to Tatopani (Hot Spring) village within sub-tropic climate area.

Tatopani another nice village with large hot spring pools just by the bank of the River Kaligandaki.

Day 14: Trek to Ghorepani 2,860 m - 06 hrs.
After Tatopani, morning walk leads across a bridge over Kaligandaki River and then our route diverts heading uphill on terraced hillside, dotted with farms and villages, after a steep section through dense alpine forest reaching Chitre and to Ghorepani- village with super views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South and Vara-Shikar also known Annapurna Fang.

Day 15: Hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,440 m - 05 hrs.
Early before the sunrise hike to the top at Poon Hill to catch the striking sunrise over a range of Himalayan peaks of world 7th highest Dhaulagiri-10th highest Annapurna with a range of peaks includes world 8th highest Manaslu with towering Machhapuchare peak “Fish Tail”.

After an enjoyable and exciting time with eye catching views from Poon Hill, head back to Ghorepani and continue downhill walk into lovely forested area for an hour, and then reaching at Ulleri village with long descend to Tirkhedhunga for overnight stop in warmer areas.

Day 16: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.
After a pleasant time at Tirkhedhunga with the sound of nice and lovely waterfalls, last day walk leads downhill on stone steps reaching at Bhirethati village by the Modi River, from here crossing a bridge a short walk leads at Nayapul, where this wonderful Annapurna Circuit trekking complete with few hour drive to picturesque Pokhara for overnight stop by the serene Phewa Lake.

Day 17: Morning drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
After an enjoyable and great moment on Annapurna Circuit trekking return drive back to Kathmandu on the same route past Pokhara and Damauli following Trisuli River for some times and then back at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: International departure for home ward bound.
After a most memorable experience on Annapurna Circuit Trekking with fabulous views of Annapurna Himalaya, our staff transfers you to the airport for your final departure homeward bound.
