Introduction:

The Chulu West Peak Climb is more of an adventure where mountaineering skill is required for the climb to reach on top summit top of Chulu West at 6,416 m high, one of the highest trekking peaks of Nepal Himalaya, with grade of AD standard means ‘Accessible Difficult’, a highly technical peak to climb all the way to its summit top.

The standard of the grading listed from popular French and Swiss Alpine Climbing System, where climbers has to be in top physical form and with full knowledge of ice and rock climbing and use of proper equipment required for the Chulu West Peak Climb.

Our adventure to Chulu West Peak Climb takes you to high hills of Manang at Dharapani with super views of dramatic landscapes and mountains that make this country so special.

After a long exciting drive from Kathmandu walk leads into lovely farm villages enriched with Buddhist culture and religion similar to Tibetan traditions and way of life, entering into serene woodland of firs-pines and rhododendron tree lines which soon fades as the walk progress entering a wild and beautiful high valley of Manang and with enough time for rest day to acclimatize and explore the village culture and monasteries.

From Manang walk leads beyond its valley limits to reach our main goal at the base of high and massive Chulu West Peak, where our expert guides will leads you to the top of the summit and bringing you safely back to continue walk over scenic Thorang-la pass at 5,416 m high with incredible views of surrounding peaks including scenery of Mustang area and of Dhaulagiri mountain range.

Walk leads downhill to enter Kaligandaki River valley around Mustang area to reach our end of the trek at Jomsom town after walking past holy Muktinath.

Jomsom the headquarter town of whole Mustang areas, famous for delicious apples and its products from Jomsom a short sweeping flight brings you at scenic Pokhara a famous and popular touristic holiday destination blessed with natural wonders on the laps of Annapurna Himalaya and serene Phewa and Begnas Lakes.

Chulu West Peak Climb finally concludes on reaching back at Kathmandu after a delightful and magnificent adventure of Chulu West Peak Climb and trekking around beautiful Annapurna trails.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,315m and transfer o hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Drive to Dharapani 1,860 m – 07 hrs.
Day 04:  Trek to Chame 2,670 m – 05 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Pisang village 3,200 m – 05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Manang village 3,540 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07:  In Manang with rest day for acclimatization.
Day 08: Trek to Ledar 4,280 m past Yak Kharka 4,110m – 04 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Chulu West Base Camp 4,700 m – 04 hrs.
Day 10: Trek and climb to High Camp at 5,100m -03 hrs.
Day 11:  Ascent of Chulu West Peak summits and descends to base camp.
Day 12: Contingency day in case of bad weather and technical delays on climb.
Day 13: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,925 m via Phedi 4,450 m – 06 hrs.
Day 14: Cross Thorang-la 5,416 m and descend to Muktinath 3,760 m – 06 hrs.
Day 15:  Trek to Jomsom 2,720 m – 05 hrs.
Day 16: Fly to Pokhara 860 m – 22 mins and transfer to hotel.
Day 17: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Day 18: International departure homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu after your international flight.
On arrival in Kathmandu received by Nepal Holiday Organizer staff and guide for short drive to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city, where you will join with other members of Chulu West Peak Climb and Trek, where our guide will brief with information regarding trekking - hotels-culture with do’s and don’ts, includes welcome dinner in a nice and typical Nepali restaurant with culture programs.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Morning after breakfast our tour guide will receive you for sightseeing tour around interesting part of Kathmandu, as Kathmandu city a blend of modernization and old lively cultures where you can witness medieval period villages and way of life of the locals as it was for past hundreds of years. Kathmandu valley steeped with ancient history-old traditions full of world heritage sites of Buddhism and Hinduism temples / monasteries. After an interesting tour afternoon free at leisure preparation for Chulu West Peak Climb and Trek.

Day 03: Drive to Dharapani 1,860 m via Bhesisar - 07hrs.
Chulu West Peak Climb adventure starts with exciting long overland drive to reach at Bhesisar a big and a headquarter town of Lamjung district. After Bhesisar taking another vehicle for the rough and interesting ride towards mid hills following Marysangdi River past Khudi, Bulbule, Nagdi villages to reach at Syange village.

From here leaving the river behind drive climbs on steep road to reach at Jagat and Chamje village and then on scenic road to Dharapani village for overnight stop where the air is cooler with alpine temperature. This nice village located on the mid way of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu route.

Day 04: Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hours.

Morning walk leads along winding path into rhododendron and pine forest past Bagachap and Danque village, then steep climb of few hours to Timang village with super views of Manaslu-Lamjung and Annapurna II. From here onwards into more Buddhist culture country.

From Timang village downhill to Koto and then a short slow uphill to reach at large Chame town for overnight stop, Chame a major and headquarter town of Manang district.

Day 05: Trek to Pisang 3, 200 m - 05 hrs.

Adventure continues from Chame heading into cooler zone and closer to mountainous region, as the morning walk leads into lovely alpine forest of rhododendron and pine trees, following Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhartang village.

After Bhartang village on crossing a bridge over torrential Marysangdi River heading uphill through alpine woodlands with views of Chulu’s and Pisang peaks, then reach at a small settlement around Dukuri Pokhari for possible lunch stop.

Afternoon walk downhill to lower Pisang village for overnight stop after passing rows of prayer wheels with closest views of Pisang and Annapurna II peaks.

Day 06:       Trek to Manang Village 3,540 m - 05 hrs.
From Pisang village with nice walk for short while and then a gradual climb into forest of pines and rhododendron to reach a small ridge with amazing views of beautiful Manang valley and mountains. After enjoying rest with the views walk downhill to Hongde village with a small airstrip , from here on tree lines fades to barren and arid dry terrain.

Trek with super views to Manang, on route visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics and then an hour walk brings at Manang village for overnight stop.

Afternoon at leisure for short walk or just relax and enjoy the views of close snowcapped peaks.

Day 07: At Manang village rest day for acclimatization.
A perfect heights and ideal spot for rest day to recover our strength from several days of walking, a necessary acclimatization day in Manang village a nice place with grand views of Annapurna IV – II – III, Gangapurna with close views of its glaciers and ice falls, includes views of Tilicho peak, Pisang Peak and Chulus peaks.

Around Manang villages houses are built in traditional Tibetan style and origin as Manang people with strong Tibetan influence including culture-Buddhist religion and way of life.

Day 08: Trek to Ledar 4,280 m via Yak Kharka 4,110 m - 04 hours.

After a pleasant stop at Manang, morning walk leads to Ghunsang village with gradual climb to reach a small settlement at Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude walk with super views of Gangapurna-A II with Chulu peaks, after few hours of scenic morning walk reaching at Ledar for overnight stop after a short stop at Yak Kharka, afternoon enjoy the mountain views at leisure. Ledar, a small settlement with nice fine lodges, afternoon relax and enjoy views of Tilicho-Gangapurna and of Chulu West, after lunch a short hike around can be done chances of viewing wildlife such as mountain goats and antelopes or snow leopard.

Day 09: Trek to Chulu West Base Camp 4,700 m - 04 hrs.

From Ledar leaving the main Annapurna trail to Thorang-la, our route leads towards complete

Wilderness to reach a small glacial stream past Yak herder's shades and at Yak pasture fields which leads up to a ridge into a hidden valley where our base camp is located at 4,700 m high.

Day 10: Trek and climb to High Camp 5,100 m - 03 hrs.

After Base Camp with enjoyable rest and overnight with first camping of the adventure, morning walk leads uphill to a steep scree slopes at a col or a ridge and then reaching at north of the col ascending the snow slopes for 200 meters to the base of a band or rock at an altitude of 5,100m and where possible High Camp will be pitched for this great climb to the summit of Chulu West.

Day 11: Ascent of Chulu West summit and descend to base camp.

Starting early morning before dawn and then climb towards a rock band with some difficulty to the north-west shoulder of Chulu West at 5,450m, where another camp can be pitched on a snow plateau above 5,530m. From the plateau continue the climb up the narrow ridge to the summit. A grand view awaits you scenery of all the snow capped mountains and of all Chulu's and Pisang peak, after a great success descend safely back to base camp using the same route.

Day 12: Contingency day in case of bad weather and technical delays on climb.
A spare or reserve day as contingency knowing the nature and technical difficulties on Pisang West Peak climb, a necessary extra day needed in case of unfavorable weather and delay on climb due to some technical difficulties on climb, this day allows climber an opportunity to reach the summit of Chulu West peak and to enjoy its surrounding beautiful scenery of mountains that encircles the top.

Day 13: Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,925 m - 04 hrs.

Morning as the air gets much cooler leading to higher zone on dry and arid country in between mountains around Yak and Yeti country, where rare Snow Leopard are seldom located on this remote and isolated areas. Slowly after crossing a small Jurjung khola (stream) heading towards Thorang Phedi for short stop and to catch the fast breathing on this high altitude walks, after a fine rest and stop climb high above on steep zig-zag path for an hour or more to reach our highest overnight stop of the adventure at Thorang High Camp with 4,925 m high altitude.

Overnight stop at High Camp makes much difference to cross the high Thorang-la next morning saving energy and time.
Day 14: Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,760 m - 07 hrs.

After early breakfast walk follows with a climb to reach at Thorang-la, on reaching at the top of above 5,416 m / 17,700 ft high pass offers super views of Dhaulagiri-Thorang peaks and as far to Chulus and Damodar Himal of Mustang area.

At the top festooned with hundreds of prayer flags, and then a long descend leads you to Phedi with few Tea-Shops and lodges, from here a pleasant walk of an hour reaches at holy Muktinath area for overnight stop after a tough and hardest day of this adventure.

Muktinath a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’. Visit the temple premises with 108 holy water spouts with grand views of North Face of Dhaulagiri.

Day 15: Trek to Jomsom 2,720 m - 05 hrs.
From Muktinath, rest of the walks is easier with big drop of 1,200m as the trail descend to Kaligandaki river valley to reach at Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River, an interesting country walking on Kaligandaki River valley within dry and arid country with incredible views of windblown hills and canyons.

 A pleasant walk of few hours brings you at large town in Jomsom the capital of Thakali people of Tibetan Buddhism sects. 

Kaligandaki of lower Mustang area famous for delicious apples and its products, here celebrate with local apple products cider, brandy and juices. The area is also famously known as Apple Pie Trail. 

Day 16: Fly to Pokhara and transfer to hotel.
Morning transfer to Jomsom small airport for short scenic flight to picturesque Pokhara valley, Pokhara with massive Annapurna Mountain views with serene Phewa Lake where our hotels located.

Afternoon free for individual activities and souvenir shopping or just relax and enjoy the views.

Day 17: Morning drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
After an enjoyable and great moment on Chulu West Peak Climb and trekking return drive back to Kathmandu on the same route past Pokhara and Damuli following Trisuli River for some times and then back at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: International departure for home ward bound.
After a memorable experience on Chulu West Peak Climb and trekking around beautiful Manang valley with fabulous views of Annapurna Himalaya, our staff transfers you to airport for your final departure homeward bound.
