Everest Three Pass Trekking starting with sweeping flight to Lukla and then towards high region of Khumbu valley and ridges in the shade of Mt. Everest, walking through traditional Sherpa farm villages visiting its old famed monasteries and around pristine forest, then leaving the green vegetations for barren and windswept arctic zone crossing high passes of Kongma-la, Cho-la and Renjo-la with a visit of Everest base camp and Kalapathar entering into beautiful Gokyo Lake valley and then ending our overwhelming adventure Everest Three Pass Trekking at Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,315m and transfer o hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding 2,640 m – 04 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 05: At Namche for short hike and acclimatization.
Day 06: Trek to Tyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05hrs.
Day 08: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 09: Trek and cross Kongmo-la 5,535m and to Lobuche 4,931m – 08 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp 5,364 m and return to Gorakshep – 06 hrs.
Day 11: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Dzongla 4,830m – 05 hrs.
Day 12: Cross Tsho-La 5,368 m and descend to Dragnak 4,700 m – 07 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,790m – 04 hrs.
Day 14: Traverse over Renjo-la 5360m / 17,585 ft and descend to Lungdhen
4,380m – 06 hrs.
Day 15: Trek to Thame 3,880 m – 06 hrs.
Day 16: Trek to Monjo 2,860m via Namche Bazaar – 06 hrs.
Day 17: Trek to Lukla with afternoon free at leisure.
Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
Day 19: In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
Day 20: Final International departure homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu after your international flight.
On arrival in Kathmandu received by Nepal Holiday Organizer staff and guide for short drive to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city, where you will join with other members of Everest Three Passes Trekking, our guide or group leader will brief with information regarding trekking - hotels-culture with do’s and don’ts, includes welcome dinner in a nice and typical Nepali restaurant with culture programs.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Morning after breakfast our tour guide will receive you for sightseeing tour around interesting part of Kathmandu, as Kathmandu city a blend of modernization and old lively cultures where you can witness medieval period villages and way of life of the locals as it was for past hundreds of years. Kathmandu valley steeped with ancient history-old traditions full of world heritage sites of Buddhism and Hinduism temples / monasteries.

After an interesting tour afternoon free at leisure preparation for Everest Three Passes Trekking.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,886m & trek to Phakding 2,640m - 04 hrs
Morning transfer to domestic airport for a sweeping scenic flight of 30 minutes to Lukla, Lukla airport named Tenzing - Hillary Airport. This is one of the world’s most unique airstrips with ups and downs short runway, after a time for refreshment in Lukla, where your bigger baggage will be carried by our porters or loaded on Ghopkyo (mix breed of normal cow and yaks).

From Lukla our first day walk begins on gradual path with much downhill and short climb passing traditional Sherpa farm villages with views of snowcapped peaks.

After a pleasant walk reaching overnight stop at Phakding located by the glacier fed Dudh Kosi (river)

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

After a pleasant overnight with the sound of the river, morning walk leads following Dudh Kosi, crossing few bridges to reach at Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo village. From walk leads to last village of Jorsalle before Namche Bazaar walking on river bed and forested area.

After crossing the last high bridge few hours climb with marvelous views of peaks with Everest then reaching famous Namche Bazaar, here with two nights in this large prosperous trading town / village as well the main centre of Khumbu with facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with a busy colorful Saturday market.

Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.

Namche a perfect spot for rest and acclimatization day, this morning a leisure short hike up to park museum with full information from mountaineering, flora / fauna of the area with Sherpa culture and Buddhist religions, this scenic spot offers grand views of mountains Mt. Everest and stunning Amadablam. For energetic and interested can take few hours hike uphill to Everest View Hotel for best views of Mt. Everest and other mountains.

Day 06: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867m - 05 hrs.
From Namche Bazaar walk is fairly easy for first half with short descend to Shanasa and with more down-hill reaching at Phungitenga, a small place with couple of teahouses and Nepal Army barrack serving as park wardens located in the midst of alpine woods of mostly silver fir blue pines, rhododendron and some few magnolia and birch trees.

From here 2 hours of strenuous climb on the winding trail in the shade of lovely forest till Thyangboche Monastery is reached for overnight stop. This beautiful spot offers views of the majestic beautiful peak Amadablam with Everest above Nuptse and Mt. Lhotse towards north east.

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05 hrs.
Morning with eye catching views of mountains, our journey starts with a long descend through beautiful birch-rhododendron and pines forest, and then crossing a bridge over Imja Khola.

From here tree lines stops for short bushes of juniper and dwarf rhododendron bushes (azalea), after the bridge a slow climb brings your at Pangboche, this is the last permanent village further up are temporary settlements to cater the needs of travelers with fine cozy lodges.

Walk leads slowly into exposed areas of windswept landscapes with grand close views of Mt. Ama Dablam with gradual up and crossing the last small bridge reaches you at Dingboche for another town night stops.

Dingboche located on scenic Imjatse valley a summer grazing areas for yaks, at present with many good lodges with great panorama of mountains with views of Island peak, Lhotse-Nuptse and North Face of Amadablam. 

Day 08: Rest at Dingboche for acclimatization with short hike.

Rest day at Dingboche will add proper acclimatization at this high altitude on this day take a slow walk uphill to Nagarjun hill for better views of surrounding peaks including Mt. Makalu towards east, one can take a walk to Chukung the last human settlement with beautiful views along the trail, taking more than 4-5 hours and back.

Day 09: Cross Kongmo-la 5,535m and to Lobuche 4,928m - 08 hrs.
After a pleasant days at Dingboche, starting early morning walk to cross over the first pass of this adventure as the walk leads few hours past Dingboche near Bibre and Chukung, and then our route diverts towards north beneath towering peak of Lhotse and Nuptse. The walk with climb uphill leadings over moraine with to reach at Kongma-la and its peak Kongma or Mehra, after a good rest in between cross over Kongma-la pass at 5,535 m / 18,159 ft hidden by Nuptse, Mehara and Pokalde peaks.

After a tough and hard climb then descend towards Khumbu glacier and moraine, the walk on glacier can be confusing and misleading, follow our lead Sherpa guide.

After crossing the Khumbu glacier, walk leads over dunes with steep climb to terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier at Lobuche for overnight stop.

Here on the main popular route to Everest base camp and staying in a cozy lodge after a hard and tough day and adventurous crossing.

Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp 5,364 m - 06 hrs.

Walk this morning is gradual with few short steep up but can be tough due to high altitude gain with awesome views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest.

After few hours of strenuous and scenic walk reaching at Gorakshep as the trek leads over moraine and glaciers to Gorakshep with few lodges, located beneath Kalapathar Hill and Pumori peak on route Everest base camp.

Gorakshep was the original base camp in early 1950’s to 1970’s, here with overnight stop after reaching our main highlight of this adventure at Everest base camp.

From Gorakshep few hours of walk leads to base camp over rocks, boulders, moraine and glacier on reaching at world highest Everest base camp, enjoy the surrounding views enclosed within Everest hidden behind high peaks of Lho-la-Nuptse with close views of notorious Khumbu Ice-Falls. In mountaineering high season April to June this place will be flooded with hundreds to colorful tents, climbers and staff.

After base camp return back to Gorakshep for last overnight stop on the eastern side of high Khumbu valley.

Day 11: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Dzongla 4,830m - 05 hrs.

Early morning a steep climb to the top of Kalapathar for the fantastic panorama of surrounding giant peaks including Mt. Everest at close distance, this will be the highest point of the adventure at 5,545 m / 18,192 ft.

After an overwhelming time on top downhill to Gorakshep and continue trek to reach Dzongla for overnight stop, walk leads on the same route for few hours and then heading towards Tsho-la (Cho) at Dzongla for overnight stop, afternoon rest and preparation for next early morning to cross over Tsho-la and towards Gokyo Lake.

Day 12: Cross Tsho-La 5,368 m and descend to Dragnak 4,700 m - 07 hrs.
A tough and exciting day, morning cross the second pass of this adventure over Tsho-la pass ( Chola), after an breakfast follow the path leading to a steep up and then cross the glacier on the eastern side.

On reaching top of the pass at an altitude of 5,367m, sometimes it will be quite challenging to traverse (in snow conditions), from the top offers amazing views of mountains with Cholatse Glacier, from here descend carefully to Thanknak for overnight stop after a hard climb over Cho-la pass, Thanknak at 4,750m a small isolated place with few Lodges.

Day 13: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,790m - 04 hrs.

After a tough climb and descend of Tsho-la pass today an easy and gradual walk as the route to Gokyo Lake leads beneath Ngozumba glacier reaching at first lake.

Walk leads to a climb by the side of a glacier, passing another second lake and reaching at third lake known as Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake a summer settlement with fantastic views of Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang that reflects on emerald green waters of Gokyo Lake. Afternoon relax with short walk around, for energetic people can climb to Gokyo Ri high point for panorama of peaks.

Day 14:   Traverse over Renjo-la 5,360m / 17,585 ft and descend to Lungdhen  4,380m - 06 hrs.

Last pass of the adventure, starting early morning towards Renjo-la, walk follows at the end of Gokyo Lake, with marvelous views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Taboche, and then over Renjo La pass at 5,360 m / 17,585 ft, one of the most difficult section of this adventure, on reaching the top with breathtaking panorama of Mt. Cho-Oyu and other high surrounding peaks.

After a nice break walk follows to a frozen ponds beneath Renjo La pass, and then descend reaching a small settlement at Lungdhen for overnight stop, located near on route to Nangpa-la pass the trail heading to Tibet.

Day 15: Trek to Thame 3,880 m - 06 hrs.
After successful crossing all three high passes of Everest and Khumbu region and feeling high spirit, today a nice walk downhill through the small village of Marlung to reach a sleepy nice village at Thame for overnight stop.

Thame village located at the western end of Khumbu of Everest region, which is just 3-4 hours walk from Namche Bazaar. Trekkers visits Thame on route Renjo-la or after crossing Tashi-Labtsa high pass that separates Rolwaling valley and Khumbu area.

With time in the afternoon visit Thame monastery, one of the most important and oldest Gompa believed to be of more than 500 years old. 

Day 16: Trek to Monjo 2,880 m through Namche Bazaar - 06hrs.
Morning walk with short descend to Bhote Kosi River and then 20 mins climb to reach the other side of the ridge, from here a gentle walk leading towards Namche Bazaar through Thamo village with hydro electricity plant, supplies electricity to Khumbu villages.

From Thamo entering back into lovely forest of pines and rhododendron tree lines as the winding trail reach back at Namche Bazaar.

After a rest at Namche continue downhill walk to Dudh Kosi River, from here with short ups and downs to reach at Sagarmatha National Park to Monjo village for overnight stop in this nice village.

Day 17: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Morning walk leads back to Phakding and then back to Lukla with final climb of this adventure, and then on reaching Lukla celebrate our last day in Everest area with fellow trekkers and staff.
Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
From Lukla an early morning flight to Kathmandu, at Kathmandu domestic airport our guide and staff transfer you back to your hotels with rest of the day free for individual activities.

Day 19: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.
Nepal Holiday Organizer reserve this day as contingency in case of flight delay or cancellation, which occurs sometime due to bad weather, as Himalayan weather can be unpredictable. If all goes well as per the itinerary one can join in our interesting tour around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities.

Day 20: International departure for home ward bound.
After a memorable experience on Everest Three Pass Trekking with fabulous views of world highest mountains, our staff transfers you to airport for your final departure homeward bound.
